A surprise performance by the wedding couple and their friends – a Bollywood-style dance to Slumdog Millionaire’s Jai-ho! I watched the movie but didn’t see through to the end and didn’t know there was such a thing!

{hitched!} Li Hsian + Srihari Day One: Wedding Portraits and Tea Ceremony

So January this year, I made a mega trip back to my home country, Malaysia, to shoot my friend Li-Hsian’s wedding to Srihari. And what a trip it was. I didn’t realize how much I’d missed home. The blue skies, the sizzling hot weather, Chinese New Year, the FOOD! Oh, the glorious food.

But enough about me for now and feast your eyes on some pictures of Li-Hsian and Srihari’s wedding, starting with their wedding portraits and tea ceremony.

This was the view today from the bridal suite at the Hilton Kuala Lumpur. Beautiful blue skies!

A quick change of clothes to some traditional Chinese cheongsam and samfoo for the bride and groom.

Time for tea! The Chinese custom of a tea ceremony, that is, to welcome the groom’s family to the bride’s.

{maternity} Josie + Derek + 1

Josie and Derek are expecting their little girl in a little over a month.

Firstborns are always exciting, looking at the earnest anticipation in Josie and Derek’s eyes. The enthusiasm is contagious!

Josie is one of those long-torsoed expectant mommies who carry so elegantly.

It was a rainy afternoon. My pretty see-through brolly came out to play once more.

{hitched!} Lise + Eric

This is my first wedding of the year, an intimate little affair right in my corner of the world.

Albeit a stressful start (my husband lost our car keys – we only had the one car), we were just in time for some fabulous shots as the sun broke out for a good half an hour.

And as luck would have it, the front yard of Lise and Eric’s home faced west!

After a few pictures at home, we drove down the hill to take some more at our beautiful valley.

And on to the wedding at Lake Tye. It was cold but Lise was a trooper and braved it for more pics!

This has got to be my fave. I love the look on Lise’s face. This was right before they exchanged their vows.

{babies} Baby A Turns One

The Coles moved from Kansas City to Seattle a few months ago and mom Lisa found me on Google to take pictures of one-year old Baby A.

Back in KC, Lisa had worked with another photographer who she said had a similar style to mine. And whaddya know, the photographer is Malaysian too! What are the chances?!
