There’s nothing quite like having a new baby. And a first baby.

The daily surprises (good AND bad). The constant wonder. Nothing else in this world changes your world from one second to another quite like having a baby. One minute you’re just plain Andre and Jessica. The next, you’re parents.

You’ve seen this family more than once. That’s because they’re awesome.

I love the color and vibrance of fairs – but not the prices. These things are serious money pits, aren’t they? Sheesh.

At least I got some pictures out of it!

This chunky six-day old is one sweet – and feisty – little miss We ended up shooting mostly on our bed at the studio.

She also brought her brand new big brother, Mr R.

People ask me all the time what my favorite type of photography is. My first love is street, but that’s pretty hard to do in rainy Seattle.

A close second is family pictures at my client’s home, just candid, casual pics of parents hanging out with the kiddos, doing whatever the kiddos wanna do. They end up showing me their favorite toys, smiling without me asking them to, and everyone just chillaxes naturally.

Meet nine-month old baby T.

Such a happy, smiley child. See you guys in a few months!

We don’t get a lot of sunny days here in the Northwest. So when we do get one, we are extremely grateful and embark on all sorts of celebratory activities, such as swimming or biking, hiking or even just a quiet evening stroll after supper.

After a full day of shooting, my family and I went for a little dip at a river in our town. There, we met our friends Alex and his family, pure coincidence. The sun was ambling slowly westward, its golden evening light making sparkles on the tranquil waters of the Snoqualmie River. Teenagers frolicked and soaked in the remaining rays. We sat and chatted and watched as our children built sandcastles and dams and pretended to fish.

I have many things to be grateful for, but today, I am most thankful for the longer days, where after a hard day’s work I am still able to make it home, throw on my flip-flops, gather my family and head on down to the beach to enjoy the sun.

And of course, to shoot purely for leisure.

Welcome to summer, my Northwest friends. We deserve it!
